Ideal candidates have a stable weight, including those who have undergone weight loss, and do not have medical conditions that could increase surgical risks. Non-smokers are preferred, as smoking can impact healing and recovery.

  • After surgery, most patients stay in recovery for 1-2 hours before discharge. Overnight stays are rare but can be arranged in advance for combined procedures. Pain medication will be provided, and Dr. Colin White will discuss this during your consultation.

  • Dr. Colin White uses a multi-modal pain approach to minimize narcotic use. Most patients are prescribed acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil), and a short course of a mild narcotic. With numbing medication applied during surgery, many only need Tylenol and Advil for pain management.

  • Dr. Colin White advises avoiding intense physical activity for at least 4 weeks. Light activity is fine after 3-4 weeks, but to ensure optimal healing and minimal scarring, excessive strain on incisions should be avoided for 12 weeks.
